Connected to God

For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul

He has filled with what is good. -Psalm 107:9 (NASB)

Are you satisfied, thirsty, hungry…in your soul?

I am constantly amazed at how fast weeds shrivel up once they’ve been pulled out of the ground by their roots.

When I cut roses and put them in water, they only last a few days.  Water is not enough to sustain them.  Hungry plants, whether weeds or flowers, need nourishment – both soil, sun and water.

When we get pulled away from our source, our soil and water, we also shrivel up – our essence, our true life, our peace and our God-given beauty evaporate.  When we don’t have rich nourishment:Innercomm dead roses

  • our joy wanes
  • our patience shortens
  • gloom emerges
  • we lose contact with people that can most help us (because we’re “ugly”)
  • we get sharp-edged
  • we become easier prey for Satan
  • we run on our own smelly fumes
  • we lose His power…the power given to us by God.

Our daily power source is God – the Trinity – The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  We can be connected to God, our power source, through prayer, reading His word or by listening to His truths in sermons and devotionals that point us to Him.

Without Him and His love and power, we are but noisy sounds in a noisy world.

I Corinthian 13:1 – If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. – (NIV) Emphasis added

When we are not plugged into our life-source, even if we speak to others in kindness or what we think is helpfulness….even if we do this, the effect is nothing of eternal value!  A clanging cymbal in the supernatural realm.  We don’t want to be gongs, wailing away to the world in our own human power, understanding and cleverness.  We don’t want to operate on water only.  We don’t want to make noise that is not the noise of God.

Do we?  Do you?

Open the door of surrender to worship.

Open the door of surrender to worship.

We want to be powered by Him, by His love.

I encourage and stress that if you are not “rooted in the soil” and surrendered to God and His ways…stop now and give Him your day.  Confess that you’ve started this day without Him and that you want that to end – now.

He has important work He would like to do through us….if we turn to Him and let Him work through us.

So much is hanging in the balance…perhaps more for us than for others.  I’m convinced that by surrendering our days and time to Him and being connected to the one True power source, we grow in intimacy with the Trinity.

Surrender is a doorway to worship.   Open the door to real life, to real joy, to real power and promise.  Open the door today.
